Crimes That Shook Britain

Broadcaster Dermot Murnaghan is joined by a team of experts and witnesses to examine the cases that gripped the nation to explore how they shaped public conversation.

Told by family, friends and the community at the heart of the crimes, the new series of Crimes That Shook Britain analyses the events that led to such atrocities before examining the devastating effects they left in their wake. Police evidence, eyewitness accounts and archive news pieces help to unpack the cases and put viewers at the forefront of investigations.

Crimes featured in this series include the Christmas Eve shooting of innocent bystander Elle Edwards, the Forbury Gardens terrorist attack in Reading, the fatal XL Bully attacks across the country, the abuse and killing of Shakira Spencer, the murder of trans teenager Brianna Ghey, the murder of Lee Pomeroy on a commuter train to London, the double murder of Cathy Burke and Iuliana Tudos, and the murder of Sophie Lancaster in Bacup.

Series nine of Crimes That Shook Britain will be available to stream on Crime + Investigation Play from Monday, 16th September. The first eight series are available to stream now.

West End Murders

West End Murders is the story of three murdered women: their lives, their deaths and two failed police investigations. Following former Met Police DCI Colin Sutton and his team, this investigation examines the historic cold case of the ‘Bunny Girl’ murders.

They uncover a key link between the murders of Eve Stratford and Lynda Farrow, and the seemingly unconnected case of murdered schoolgirl Lynne Weedon, revealing the pattern of a potential serial killer who went unnoticed for decades. With this new revelation, can Sutton and his team bring justice and close the book on a 40-year-old case once and for all?

West End Murders will be available to stream on Crime + Investigation Play from Tuesday, 24th September.

Missing Presumed Dead

In Missing Presumed Dead, we hear the stories of real people’s disappearances – how they survived and how they were rescued – from their own points of view. These stories are told through a combination of interviews with the missing person, their family and friends, and experts in abduction and hostage situations.

This series includes British family The Robertsons who became lost at sea, Peter Shaw who was kidnapped and tortured in Georgia, Peter Moore who was kidnapped in Kabul, aid worker Ian Purchase who was taken by the Taliban, and the journalist Michael Scott Moore who was captured in Somalia.

Missing Presumed Dead will be available to stream on Crime + Investigation Play from Wednesday, 25th September.

Houses of Horror: Secrets of College Life

Houses of Horror: Secrets of College Life exposes the dark side of fraternity and sorority life at some of America’s top universities and its impact on the young men and women who participate.

Each episode features first-hand accounts of how the power, control and secrecy of fraternities and sororities can create a cult-like dynamic leading to an environment where nefarious activity can thrive.

Through exclusive sit-down interviews with those involved, the series details how these organisations that seemingly offer acceptance and community for young people have consequences that can turn dangerous and even deadly.

Houses of Horror: Secrets of College Life will be available to stream on Crime + Investigation Play from Monday, 9th September.
