12 May - Lindbergh kidnap baby found dead - case now a murder investigation

After an anxious two months, 12 ransom notes and $50,000 being handed over, the accidental discovery of the body was extremely shocking. A truck worker had stopped to relieve himself a few miles from the Lindbergh home and found the crushed head and decomposed body of baby Charles.
