19 January - John Christie kills pregnant prostitute burying body in kitchen

Rita Nelson, a 25-year-old prostitute became the fifth victim of the British serial killer, John Christie, on this day in 1953. Christie, a postman whose murderous tendencies had grown out of an obsession with sexual dominance, managed to lure Nelson to his infamous home at 10 Rillington Place, suggesting that he would be able to assist her with the termination of her pregnancy before incapacitating and murdering her.
